BOILER UPGRADE SCHEME GRANT (BUS)

  • £7,500 for installing an Air Source Heat Pump or a Ground Source Heat Pump

To incentivise UK home-owners to switch from fossil fuels to renewables, the RHI scheme has been replaced with a new simplified grant scheme known as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme or BUS for short.

You could be eligible for £7,500 off the cost of a new air source heat pump or ground source heat pump so long as you are replacing an traditional gas, oil, direct electric (such as storage heaters) or LPG boiler system.

Unfortunately, you can't have the grant if you're replacing an old heat pump or biomass boiler.

The previous Government allocated £450m so the scheme will benefit a maximum of 90,000 homes.

Ofgem are administering the scheme and you can check your eligibility by checking out the government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme page.

How does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme work?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is administered on a “first-come, first-served basis,” and customers register their interest with us (or their chosen MCS accredited installer) and authorise an application to be made in their name.

We will then apply for the £7,500 heat pump grant on your behalf.

Am I eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

These are the requirements for BUS eligibility...

  • You must be a homeowner

  • Your property must be in England or Wales

  • You need an EPC (we can help you get this if you don't currently have one).

I'm building a new home, am I eligible?

You don't need an EPC to qualify if you're self-building. Your planning permission will have required you to build to the latest eco-friendly building regulations anyway.

New builds that are not custom (i.e. being built by a large developer or as part of a multi-home development) are not eligible for the scheme.

I'd like to apply for the BUS

If you meet all of these requirements, we can apply to the scheme on your behalf.

Please let us know if you wish to register your interest in obtaining a grant.

DOMESTIC RHI SCHEME

Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive

Can I still apply for the RHI

The Domestic RHI Scheme has now come to an end so it's no longer possible to apply for this scheme. It has been replaced by the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

I already get RHI Payments. Will they stop?

No. If you have already applied for and been accepted by the RHI then your payments will continue as per the original agreement.

THE GREEN HOMES GRANT

The Green Homes Grant has now ended.
